Consolidation basics
Consolidation (often called “集运” by Chinese agents) combines multiple supplier parcels into a single shipment under one master waybill. For buyers sourcing from several Alibaba vendors, it is usually the fastest route to lower freight cost.
| LCL | FCL | |
|---|---|---|
| Volume | Under ~15 CBM | Full container |
| Cost | Per CBM | Flat container rate |
| Damage risk | Higher (shared) | Lower |
| Transit | Waits for consolidation | Direct |

Why consolidate
One shipment means one customs entry, one handling fee, and one freight charge instead of paying minimums on every supplier. Start by measuring your goods with the volume calculator to see whether LCL or FCL is cheaper, then read how to read a bill of lading for what the consolidated document looks like.
